Who’s got eyes on the interns?
In 2018 I was tasked with quite the feat: start BBDO Los Angeles’ first internship program.
Sounds easy enough, eh?
THE PROPOSAL
Over the summer, 10 of the best students from a range of diverse schools and backgrounds will join us for a 10-week internship program.
Interns will work on real projects and learn from the best people at the agency. We designed a robust program that will jam pack their summer with projects, lunch & learns, and mentoring.
All with the goal of fostering future agency hires.
THE CURRICULUM
1: The Basics - a week dedicated to learning the ins and outs of the agency from account, media, production, creative, and strategy
2: Lunch & Learns - weekly seminars from industry leaders on how to succeed in Advertising
3: Mentorship - pairing interns with mid-level team mates that can show them the ropes
4: Intern Project - a collective assignment on a dedicated client to encourage our team to think big
5: Real Work - weekly tasks, monthly projects, and real connection with teams that need support
THE RESULTS
10 college students with the drive to get to work on real world projects
10 interns with industry knowledge and a 10 week intensive training that prepared them for their impending jobs in advertising.
10 fresh young minds prepared to take on the industry with confidence
and 1 very proud Intern Leader :’)
